Gas Cylinder
Non-combustible waste (treated as hazardous material)
The official waste-related page for Habikino City does not explicitly list a separate page for gas cylinders (portable gas or canister gas). The waste page includes a warning about explosion and fire accidents at collection trucks and the Clean Center caused by the incorrect mixing of spray cans, portable gas cylinders, etc. (Source page: About Waste and Recycling https://www.city.habikino.lg.jp/serch/gomi_recycle/5972.html). The city's self-delivery (Kashiwabato Clean Center) guide states that hazardous materials like propane and kerosene, as well as fire extinguishers, cannot be brought in. These must be handled by specialized disposal companies or returned to the place of purchase. (Source page: Garbage Collection Schedule https://www.city.habikino.lg.jp/soshiki/shiminjinken/kankyouhozen/seikan_eisei_gomi/864.html). Therefore, gas cylinders must be treated as hazardous materials. The following actions are recommended: 1) For household cassette gas cylinders and portable gas canisters, most municipalities require either using up the remaining gas or puncturing the container to completely release the gas before disposal. They are then treated similarly to spray cans, as combustible waste or designated non-combustible resources. However, as clear instructions from Habikino City are not readily available, please first contact the City's Environmental Conservation Division (Tel: 072-958-1111). 2) For large quantities or commercial gas cylinders, fire extinguishers, propane tanks, etc., self-transport is not permitted. Contact the supplier or a specialized disposal company. 3) When using the city's designated temporary waste collection or transporting to a Clean Center, hazardous materials may not be accepted. Confirm in advance with the Kashiwabato Clean Center or the Environmental Conservation Division. Note: As clear instructions for sorting and disposing of gas cylinders could not be found on the Habikino City website, we have explicitly stated that confirmation should be sought from the city.
