Gas Cylinder
Recyclable waste
This survey was conducted based on the Koriyama City Household Waste Separation Guide (multiple pages). While the guide lists gas cartridges and spray cans under recyclable resources, caution is required for gas cylinders containing flammable gas (large cylinders or those with residual contents). The standard Koriyama City procedure is as follows: Gas cylinders should be emptied completely before disposal. Do not puncture them or manipulate the valve. Consult the retailer or a specialized collection point (gas appliance retailers, appliance store take-back services, or private industrial waste disposal companies) for proper disposal. If any contents remain, they are considered hazardous materials. Do not put them out for municipal collection and absolutely do not place them at household waste collection points. Small gas cartridges (e.g., cassette cylinders) and aerosol cans are subject to resource recovery or designated sorting (e.g., discarding after emptying without puncturing). However, handling varies depending on cylinder size and residual pressure, so confirmation is necessary. If dangerous, contact the 5R Promotion Section (Environment Department).
